Some ten years ago I received a generous and splendid gift of antique teacups. These gorgeous pieces had long been family heirlooms of a long-time friend. While downsizing and considering who might appreciate and make the best use of these timeless delicate objects, she offered them to me. As expected, the lovely objects became the subject of a painting collection…. and so, in keeping with the spirit that both she and the teacups embodied, I titled this particular collection of teacup oil paintings “Duchess.”
