Canopy of Peonies
“Canopy of Peonies″ 30”w x 36”h oil on canvas original painting is my current personal favourite! These elegant lush peonies in glorious hot reds and pinks, sit in an environment that reflects back as pigments bleed into the space. The bloomy pigmented mass billows overhead while dynamic stems and leaves suspend it’s fluffy weightlessness. This delightful composition with rich colour palette will delight seasoned as well as new collectors.
I pondered ideas for this piece over the past 5 years. The “feeling” had to offer a sense of delightful protection and majesty, hence the title in french “Dais de Pivoine”. Dais, in french, is a canopy used over a throne.
Canopy of Peonies was painted during January and February this year, 2023. The artwork expands the concept of a previous collection and was recently exposed at The Gallery at Victoria Hall, Westmount Quebec in a duo exhibition.
There’s more information about the “Beauty for Ashes” collection, of which this artwork is a key piece. I’ll be delighted to provide additional information; contact me if you have questions.
The original painting is for sale.
